Hey everyone! The schedule got changed on me a little bit this year, so it’s taken longer for me to confirm times. Below, you will find the “menu” for the show that includes the order of performances. Right now, we’re expecting the show to last about an hour.
8:30- 6th Grade Performance
11:30- 7th/8th Grade Performance
**Mrs. Loy strongly suggest parents come early in order to get checked in and seated before students arrive for the performance.
Joe’s Cafe- Joe Auditions and Wait Staff
Attached, you will find the list of students in the Waitress Dance as well as our emcees, Jo and Joe, for each performance. As always, you guys make it super tough to make decisions. Thanks for all your effort and hard work! Everyone that tried out was mazing! PLEASE come back for the musical! Your talents are amazing!
If at all possible, can the wait staff dancers meet after school for a little while? Just until 4:30 or so? Not a big deal if you can’t make it; we just want to get spacing and featured roles all done.
Jo and Joes, I would love the opportunity to give you scripts on Thursday and give you a little time to work together after school. Again, just until 4:30 or so. Please let me know if you will not be able to make it so we can leave space for you!

We will begin our unit on Theatre Make-up next week. The easiest way to do special effects make-up is with liquid latex. I’ve sent home latex allergy forms. Please return these by Friday, November 9th.

A Knight on Broadway Update
Students have chosen to donate all proceeds to a cancer charity in honor of Charleson Dancy. Please go to the following link: Honoring Charleson Dancy to select which charity we will be donating to. I’m so proud of your commitment to honoring your friend, and I think this is a really beautiful way to do this!
A Knight on Broadway
It’s that time of the year again! The Theatre 2 showcase will be held on Friday, November 2nd at 7:00pm. A letter was sent home today regarding this show. Please note that students who are unable to be in the show must bring back the form sent home today by Friday, October 19th. You can find a copy of the form here: Knight on Broadway Info
Just like last year, each class will perform a Broadway tune as an ensemble. Auditions for soloists, duos, trios, small groups, and/or dancers will be held in class next Wednesday, October 24th. Individual students must audition to be in the show.
This performance is a major grade, so students must be present. Alternate assignments will be given to students who are unable to make the performance. This is not a punishment, just an alternative. Students who do not show up to the performance without permission prior to 10/19 will receive a 0 as a major grade, except in emergency cases.
Listed below are lyrics to songs as well as any props needed:
1st Period: The Schuyler Sisters
2nd Period: It’s the Hard-knock Life
3rd Period: Love is an Open Door
5th Period: Singin in the Rain and Umbrella
6th Period: Prince Ali
7th Period: You Ain’t Never Had a Friend Like Me

It’s another “Hamilton” quote this year (because…of course it is!):
First Major Grade- Monologues!
Our first major assignment is to find one monologue to prepare for the class. Students will use class time to find these monologues, utilizing sites such as aceyouraudition.com or reading from various scripts for a preferred monologue. Monologues should not be shorter than 30 seconds in length. Students do not have to have monologues memorized, but should not be reading from the page. As long as they are familiar with the script, they will be fine. Monologues can be from television, film, stage, or written specifically for auditioning. Each class has decided upon a day to perform. The schedule is as follows:
1st Period: Friday, August 31st
2nd Period: Wednesday, August 29th
3rd Period: Friday, August 31st
5th period: Friday, August 31st
6th Period: Friday, August 31st
7th Period: Friday, August 31st
These monologues can be nerve-wracking. I have not posted a rubric here because as long as the student attempts to perform the monologue rather than read it, he/ she will receive high marks. Break a leg, team!
Welcome to the Theatre 2 page. I will be updating this page with links to our projects with rubrics and deadlines as they come. Don’t forget to get the Remind by texting @klmsdrama2 to 81010. Thank you!
